DR. DANIYAN OLUWATOYIN MICHAEL

Biography:

Dr. DANIYAN Oluwatoyin Michael is working in Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

Research Area:

The broad field of his current scientific interest is Biochemical and Molecular Pharmacology. The research interest focuses on understanding the biochemical and molecular mechanisms underpinning the pharmacological roles and toxicological potentials of medicinal plants extracts and isolated compounds. A special attention is been placed on plants known to possess anti-infectious (especially relating to malaria, fungi, viruses and cancer) and neuropharmacological properties. Both in vitro and in vivo biochemical and molecular approaches as well as computer based bioinformatics/computational methods are employed to explore potential bioactivities and for the identification of potential drugs targets at cellular and molecular levels. The major outputs envisaged from the current research focus is the advancement of our understanding of the fundamental mechanisms underpinning the activities of these plants and their isolated compounds, identification of potential novel drug candidates and drug targets and the development of plant based pharmacotherapy.
